Napoleon’s second exile was shortly after the battle of waterloo when the Prussian army found him trying to escape to the United States. Napoleon was exiled to St Helena (an island is the south Atlantic 1,162 mi off the west coast of Africa) he quickly fell into a state of depression and locked himself in his hut for months at a time, because of this Napoleon’s health deteriorated rather quickly and on May 5 1821 after 6 years of living on the island Napoleon died, his last words were said to be “France, l'armée, tête d'armée, Joséphine" (“France, army, head of the army, Josephine”). The cause of his death is not really known. Some people think that he died to cancer some say he died of poisoning himself and some even think he may have been murdered although the cause is mostly unknown to his followers Napoleon died a hero.
