the national assembly was created in 1789 by the third estate because of the events that happened at the meeting of the estates general just a few months before. The national assembly was created so that the third estate could try and change the tax code, the national assembly had a few members from the first and second estates as well and they were the ones who thought the tax code was unfair and that the third estate could no longer pay the tax on its own. And they kept trying to get the king to make a new tax code taxing the second and first estates but still taxing the third estate but not as much. The national assembly also thought about changing the constitution sparking the famous words liberty, equality, fraternity. The creation of the National assembly showed how the common people can still make the biggest changes and became one step closer to the start of the French Revolution.
